Trustly: a Swedish-Regulated Payment Solution

Trustly (formerly known as InstantBank) is a payment option that is a mediator of payment methods between your account and the casino's. Company has some offices in european countries, and the headquarters are located in Malta (where a lot of the casino operators are located).

Trustly is regulated by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority. It holds a European Payment Services Provider (PSP) license in accordance with the Payment Services Directive (PSD, 2007/64/EC).

The company has been operating in Australia since 2020. Trustly partners with most major banks in Australia including:

  • Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA)
  • Westpac
  • National Australia Bank (NAB)
  • Bank of Queensland (BOQ)
  • ING Australia
  • Bendigo Bank
  • Suncorp Bank
  • Macquarie Bank

How Trustly Works in Gambling

Trustly allows you to make deposits and withdrawals directly from your bank account in Australia. But withdrawals are only available at a limited number of online casinos.

Trustly uses MyGovID or AUKEY to verify your identity via your online banking login details in a secure method. This keeps your funds secure as Trustly uses bank-level encryption without storing any financial information.

To use Trustly, simply choose it as a payment option at the casino cashier. Then you need to enter the amount you need and login to your bank. Then you need confirm the transaction with a two-step verification or via email. As for withdrawals, the process is not as straightforward as with deposits. While Trustly does support withdrawals, few casinos support this feature.

Trustly also has almost no customer support. So if you have any issues, you will most likely have to contact your bank directly.

Limits and Fees

Trustly as a payment method has daily limits from $10 to $100,000. However, the gaming sites will set the limits on their platforms and the amount differs from one casino to the other. Overall, online casinos that accept Trustly have flexible withdrawal limits.

Trustly deposits and withdrawals are free of charge but depending on the casino you’re gambling at, you might get charged some fees for using the service. Some banks also charge additional fees for handling your money.

Limit Time Fee
Minimal Deposit $10 Instant 0%
Maximum Withdrawal $10,000 At least 24 hours 0%

Problems with Trustly

Trusly doesn't delete accounts, I found a few messages on Reddit about users wanted to close accounts for fear of spending money at the casino. Trustly said they would do it. But Trusly didn't, and those people ended up going broke and spending the rest of their money. Trusly lacks even the basic responsible gambling instruments. You should take care of this from your side of the bank.

On the other hand, Trusly forbids using the platform to pay for illegal goods and services (like most payment systems). So, it is worth understanding that there may be random blocking of accounts if they suspect not quite legal operations.

Last but most importantly: Trusly request direct access to your bank account. While they have an excellent reputation for security, you are giving away your data to a third person. It's best not to use Trusly with accounts with large amounts of money - it's bad for both responsible gambling and financial security.

Trusly is a comfortable service, it has few problems. But it is important to understand the risks when working with it for casino deposits and withdrawals.
